Hoy Día is Telemundo's flagship morning show. As part of a plan to transform the previously news-centric program into an entertainment variety platform, the show's primary graphics package was needed an overhaul to visually reflect this shift.

The Solve
New brand assets were to be the north star of the show's visual refresh. Design cues from these elements would trickle down into everything from on-screen motion graphics to set monitors and more, helping to signal the transition in content. However, it was important not to confuse or turn away viewers of the old show, so care was taken to build upon the previous branding rather than eliminating it entirely.

A big ask from the network was to unlock, through design, more flexibility for the new wider range of topics and coverage than before. This was addressed thorough a vibrant new palette and a welcoming typeface family that together offered an abundance of combinations while maintaining a consistency in branding.

Application
Demonstrating how this new design language would come together within the show's existing studio, and in service of its on-air coverage needs, was key for guiding set builders and technical directors on how to adjust for the new look, as well as selling stakeholders on the overall creative direction.

Real-time Elements
The show's real-time graphics package was fully overhauled for consistency with the new design language using a combination of native and pre-rendered assets within Chyron LYRIC.

Motion Graphics
Forms found within the new logo itself served as the basis for show's core motion graphics elements including the open, bumps, transitions and set monitor backgrounds which would all compliment the show's new energy and spirit.
